Terms of Service
Terms of Service
Last updated: 7 August 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and MapVectorizer for the use of the MapVectorizer website and web application. By creating an account, buying credits, or exporting a file, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
1. Who you are contracting with
MapVectorizer ("MapVectorizer", "we", "us") is a service operated under Chamber of Commerce (KvK) registration number 66656990 in the Netherlands. Our contact address for all matters relating to these terms, including notices and complaints, is contact@mapvectorizer.com.
"The service" means the mapvectorizer.com website, the web application at app.mapvectorizer.com, and any files those produce. "You" means the person or organisation using the service; if you use it on behalf of an employer or client, you confirm you are authorised to accept these terms on their behalf.
2. Your account
Some parts of the service require an account. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for everything that happens under your account. Tell us promptly at contact@mapvectorizer.com if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.
- You must provide an email address that is accurate and that you control — it is how we deliver receipts and account notices.
- Accounts are for a single user. Do not share credentials or resell access to your account.
- You must be old enough to enter into a binding contract in your country of residence.
- Free starting credits are granted once per person. Creating additional accounts to collect them again — including with address variations or disposable email domains — is a breach of these terms and may result in the removal of credits and closure of the accounts involved.
3. Credits, pricing and payment
MapVectorizer is pay-per-export. You buy credits up front and spend one or more per export, at the rate shown in the app at the time. We may change prices for future purchases; a change never affects credits you have already bought.
- Payment. Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card details. Stripe's own terms apply to the payment transaction.
- Tax. Bundle prices are quoted in US dollars and exclude VAT. Checkout asks for your billing address and adds any VAT due in your country to the quoted price, so the amount you pay may be higher than the figure shown on the pricing page. Business customers can enter a VAT number at checkout, where the reverse charge applies.
- Invoices. An invoice is issued for every purchase and sent to your account email. If you need company details on it, enter them at checkout or write to us.
- Credits have no cash value, cannot be transferred between accounts, and cannot be exchanged for money. They do not expire; if we ever introduce an expiry period, it will not apply to credits bought before the change. If the service is ever discontinued, unspent credits are refunded — see section 6.
Right of withdrawal and refunds
If you are a consumer in the EU, you have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal on a purchase of credits. We honour it as follows: within 14 days of a purchase, write to us and we will refund the credits from that purchase you have not yet spent. Credits you have already spent on an export are digital content that has been supplied and consumed at your request, and are not refundable under the withdrawal right.
Beyond that: if an export fails, produces a corrupted or unopenable file, or is not delivered because of a fault on our side, we will restore the credit or refund it. Exports of the wrong area, wrong zoom, or a style you decided against are not refundable — please check your selection before exporting. Refund requests go to contact@mapvectorizer.com.
4. What you may do with your exports
The map geometry in your exports is derived from OpenStreetMap and is licensed to everyone under the Open Database Licence (ODbL). We do not and cannot claim ownership of it. What you get from us is the rendered, styled, layered file we produce for you.
- Paid exports — exports made with credits you bought may be used commercially: client work, products for sale, print, packaging, editorial, merchandise, film and games. No royalties, no licence fees, no time limit, and the right survives your account being closed.
- Free exports — the free starting credits are there so you can learn the tool and make things for yourself. Before you publish or sell work commercially, make at least one credit purchase on your account. Once you have, that commercial licence covers your earlier free exports too.
- You may edit, recolour, remix and redistribute your exports as part of your own work.
- You must add the OpenStreetMap attribution — "© OpenStreetMap contributors" — on or near the published work, as the ODbL requires. It is not written into the exported file for you. See the Disclaimer & attribution page for wording.
- If you publish work made with a free export, please credit MapVectorizer alongside OpenStreetMap.
- You may not resell or redistribute the exports as-is as stock assets, map data, or a competing map-export product.
Any shapes, icons, routes, labels or other content you add yourself remain yours. We claim no rights in them.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Access the service by automated means — scraping, scripted export loops, or circumventing the credit system or rate limits.
- Attempt to gain access to accounts, servers, or data that are not yours, or probe, scan or test the security of the service without our written permission.
- Interfere with the service's availability, including sending traffic designed to degrade it.
- Reverse engineer the service in order to build a substantially similar competing product, except to the extent this restriction is unenforceable under mandatory law.
- Use the service unlawfully, or to produce material that infringes someone's rights.
We may suspend or close an account that breaches this section. Where the breach is not serious and can be fixed, we will normally contact you first.
6. Availability and changes to the service
We aim to keep MapVectorizer available and working, but it is provided without any uptime guarantee. Maintenance, upstream map-data outages, and third-party failures can interrupt it. We may add, change, or remove features — including map styles and layers — as the product develops.
If the service shuts down
Should we ever discontinue MapVectorizer, or should it become permanently unavailable for any other reason, we will announce it by email to account holders and on the website, with as much notice beforehand as the circumstances allow.
- Unspent credits are refunded on request. Write to contact@mapvectorizer.com and we will refund the credits remaining on your account at the price you paid for them.
- You have twelve months to ask. Requests are accepted for one year from the date the service goes offline — or, if it stopped working without an announcement, from the last date it functioned. We would rather refund early than have you wait, but the window is there so nobody loses out by not noticing straight away.
- Refunds go back to the original payment method where that is still possible, and by bank transfer where it is not.
- Files you already downloaded stay yours. The commercial licence in section 4 does not depend on the service continuing to exist, or on your account still being open.
This commitment is limited by law only in the situation where we are insolvent, in which case claims are handled under the applicable insolvency rules rather than by us directly. Nothing here affects the statutory rights of consumers.
7. Disclaimer of warranties
To the extent the law allows — and for consumers that is limited, since your statutory conformity rights always apply — the service and everything it produces are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. In particular, we make no warranty about the accuracy, completeness or currency of the underlying map data. The full detail is on the Disclaimer page, which forms part of these terms.
Exports must not be used for navigation, emergency response, engineering, legal boundary determination, or any other purpose where inaccurate geography could cause harm or loss.
8. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for intent and gross negligence.
Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, revenue, goodwill, data, or business opportunity, or for reprint, production, or client costs arising from your use of the service or of an exported file.
If you use the service in the course of a business, our total liability for all claims arising in any twelve-month period is limited to the amount you paid us in that period.
If you are a consumer, that cap does not apply to you. Your statutory rights under mandatory Dutch and EU consumer law — including the right to a service that conforms to what was agreed — are unaffected by anything in these terms, and we remain liable to you to the extent the law provides.
9. Your responsibility for published work
You are responsible for checking that anything you publish using our exports is accurate enough for its purpose, correctly attributed, and lawful in the jurisdiction where it is published. Depiction of borders, territories and place names in the underlying data reflects OpenStreetMap's contributors, not a position taken by us.
10. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the service at any time and ask us to delete your account (see the Privacy Policy). We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these terms, if we are required to by law, or if continuing to serve your account would expose us or others to a security or legal risk. Where we terminate an account through no fault of yours, we refund unspent credits.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms — for example when features, pricing mechanics, or legal requirements change. The "last updated" date above always reflects the current version. For material changes affecting account holders, we will give notice by email or in the app before the change takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that constitutes acceptance.
12. Applicable law and disputes
These terms are governed by Dutch law. Disputes will be submitted to the competent court in the Netherlands. If you are a consumer resident in the EU, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of your country of residence and may bring proceedings in your local courts; you may also use the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform.
If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in force and the unenforceable part is replaced by a valid provision closest to its original intent.
13. Contact
Questions about these terms, refunds, or your account: use the contact form or email contact@mapvectorizer.com. We aim to reply within a few working days.
